Symptom: The A/C blows warm or mildly cool air despite being set to maximum cooling.
Possible Cause:
Low refrigerant due to leaks (check for oily residue around fittings).
Compressor not engaging (failed clutch or internal damage).
Grinding, Squealing, or Rattling Sounds when the A/C is turned on.
Clutch-related: Worn bearings or slipping clutch.
Internal damage: Broken pistons, valves, or swash plate.
Refrigerant/Oil Leaks (green/UV dye traces near compressor seals).
Physical damage (cracks, corrosion, or seized pulley).
Test Method:
Start the engine, turn A/C to max, and observe the clutch.
If the center pulley doesn’t spin, check:
Electrical connections (voltage at clutch coil).
Refrigerant pressure (low charge disables clutch).
Cause: Internal mechanical failure (e.g., broken piston, shaft imbalance).
Risk: Can damage other A/C components (condenser, expansion valve).
Black/gritty refrigerant oil or metal flakes in the A/C lines.
Indicates: Severe internal wear (requires full system flush after replacement).
✅ Replace the Compressor if:
Internal mechanical failure is confirmed.
Metal contamination is present (to avoid system-wide damage).
The unit is old (>8–10 years) for reliability.
